Information Technology

The Information Technology (IT) department collaborates with every department to implement new technology services and provide supporting data and information while maintaining the city’s existing information technology landscape. Our services cover a wide variety of systems infrastructure and equipment including: department and enterprise software systems, Geographic Information Systems, data, websites, radio and communications services, desktop hardware, and computer networks used by city departments to serve constituents.

IT Operations

IT Operations provides technical support and assistance to city departments, employees and elected officials. They also manage the technology and processes that enable the city to meet constituent and governmental needs.

Includes helpdesk, field support, AV and conference room technology support, hardware configuration, policy/procedure implementation, IT team planning, policies, procedures, processes and metrics.

IT Infrastructure Services

This division plays a critical role in managing the hardware and software that form the foundation of the city’s IT services, such as servers, data storage and remote connectivity.

Includes physical and virtual server environments and data centers, disaster recovery, networking and Wifi, unified communications.

Application Services

This team provides the business systems required to support the City of Boise’s staff as they serve our residents. They also help automate existing business processes, capture workflow data, and measure key performance indicators.

Includes process automation, implementation of 3rd party solutions, workflow data and functional KPI analysis.

Project Services

The Project Services team provides project management, business analysis, and strategic software purchasing. They also manage software agreement negotiations for better terms and cost savings and provide key indicators of project health.

Includes portfolio management and business analysis.

Enterprise Architecture and Cybersecurity

Enterprise Architecture develops a systematic approach to describing what the city does and how the city does it, now and in the future. The architecture framework defines business capabilities and processes, enables applications, underlying technologies and information assets. Cybersecurity protects the city against criminal or unauthorized access to the city’s electronic data.

Includes data availability, data integrity and data confidentiality.

Data and GIS Services

Data Services helps leverage the city’s data assets for the best possible outcomes and provides support for data-driven decisions. GIS provides geospatial software, services, technical support, maintains data and coordinates the use of spatial technologies to all areas of the city.

Includes data process automation, data modeling, front-end data consumption, geospatial software services and support.
